A roof replacement is tearing off the old roof and replacing the old roof with new roofing materials and components. This allows your roofing contractor to work from a blank canvas and work with a clean area.
But what exactly does this process look like? To the average person, chaos; but in a controlled environment.
- Once an access point is identified, protective tarps from the gutter to the ground will be secured to protect the landscaping and foliage that surrounds the roofline around the base of the home. This ensures that all debris is coming off the roof, gets placed in the dump trailer and not in the landscaping of your yard.
- Tearing off the old roof, typically starts at the furthest section of roof, away from the dump trailer; ultimately working towards the access point. Sometimes there are two teams at play. One ripping the material off the roof and the other team making sure it ends up in the dump trailer.
- After all the shingles, nails, and other components are removed; this leaves the roof decking exposed (or the blank canvas if they decking is not replaced). And allows the area to be ready for the new roof to be installed.
The roof tear off may seem like a small chaotic step, it is actually a crucial piece of the replacement process. Once the roof tear off is complete and done properly, the roof is ready for the new roof to be installed.
